MAY 1, 2018 // LIFESTYLE

Hey my lovelies, Jess here. Do you ever feel like you get caught in the same cycle of conversation – how’s work, how’s your family, etc.? It can feel like the experience of going out didn’t live up to your expectations. Well, we here at the Grille say no more dull discussions. To help inspire a new kind of conversation, we created fun questions to ask friends and they just happen to be right under your drinks. If you are interested in adding some energy into your everyday conversations, put your phones down and pick some coasters up – and don’t worry, I’ve got a couple ways to get you started.

A FUN SPIN ON A CLASSIC GAMESHOW

If you’re out on a double or group date and want to make things entertaining, play a mini-game with a nod to “The Newlywed Game.” The premise is this: significant others take turns answering the questions on the coasters, and then it is up to their partner to guess the correct answer. Put your knowledge of each other to the test – you could even take it up a notch with a prize for the winners, courtesy of the losing team (I would recommend our Coconut Cream Pie or Lemon cake.)

THE BEST KIND OF ICEBREAKER

You’re meeting some new people you say? If you are stuck on what to talk about, jump right in with our coasters, AKA our “not-your-average-conversation-starters.” We came up with questions that may not be the first thing to come to mind, so you can start with “Red, white or Rosé” and see where the chat goes from there. Who knows, you might just walk away with some new friends to grab drinks with.

QUICK-FIRE QUESTIONS

When you and your friends have a routine of meeting up once a month for brunch, or every Wednesdays for Happy Hour, it can be easy for your conversation to become somewhat of a routine too. A simple fix? Each person at your table turns the coasters over question side down so no one can see each other’s questions. Then, going around the table each person flips over their coaster and chooses someone to answer the question. Whoever is selected has 3 seconds to answer. Get ready to learn a lot about your friends because seriously, when was the last time you asked them the best bite of food they’ve ever had?

Hopefully this will bring some entertaining answers, lots of laughs and a deeper connection with those around you. If you are interested in sharing your answers with us, or would like to learn more about people at the Grille be sure to participate in our #CoasterChat series, coming soon. Love your faces.

– Jess
